This guide specifies the requirements for custom nail stamping plates purchased from NerdNails' Etsy store. If you do not know how to create images like those described here yourself, you can purchase separate image editing from NerdNails' Etsy store.
For more information on how to use nail stamping plates, see this easy guide.
An image for a stamping plate must be in black and white - not greyscale. The easiest images to turn black and white are those with white backgrounds, or single coloured, light backgrounds.
Details that are too small will not be etched onto the plate and thus will not stamp. Ensure that all details are clear and not small. If you are unsure, feel free to send me a sample and ask.
Best is if you have vector images (created using e.g. Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape or Super Vectorizer or files ending with e.g. .ai, .eps etc.). Vector images can be resized and do not lose quality. The next best thing is high resolution pixel/bitmap images (files ending with e.g. .jpg, .bmp, .psd, .png, .tiff etc.). The recommendation is at least 300 ppi or minimum 1000 x 1000 px.
Specify the size you want the images to be for stamping on your nails. If you have small or large nails this is important. If you do not specify a size, each image will be sized as close to 9 x 12 mm (0.35 x 0.5 in) as possible. You can also size the images yourself by fitting them into a 125 x 65 mm (approx. 4.9 x 2.5 in) image. Remember to adhere to the image quality requirements specified in step 3 if you do this.
